Sherry’s love for language and art emerged as she grew up on a farm reading, drawing, wandering, imagining. Fast-forward past BA in English, halfway through law school (didn’t want to be a lawyer after all), MA in English and a start in PR. She added a marketing edge to her PR job at what is now the Austin Museum of Art. That was 25 years ago.

From there she got an education in marketing and PR from A to Z over several years at Sherry Matthews Advocacy Marketing. She started her own firm in 1989.

Sherry has conceived and implemented successful programs and projects for clients ranging from professional service firms, retail businesses and restaurants to nonprofit organizations, public agencies and healthcare institutions. In multiple roles as marketing strategist, creative director, copywriter, account executive and production manager, she has developed hundreds of materials for print, direct, video, radio, television and the web.

In the community, Sherry serves on the boards of Women & Their Work and the Deborah Hay Dance Company.
